Biomass Energy Africa (2025-2027) New Financial & Technical Assistance Programme for clean cooking companies
Biomass Energy Africa (BEA) is a new financial & technical assistance programme for clean cooking companies funded by the French Development Agency between 2025 and 2027, operating in Uganda and Tanzania, whose goal is to scale up the commercial availability and affordability of all clean cooking solutions nationally. It is coordinated by Hystra, a strategy consulting firm specialized in inclusive business and energy access.
Technical assistance to companies includes but is not limited to: consumer & market research, product portfolio redesign, marketing and distribution strategies, sales operation effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, cash flow & inventory management, business planning & economic analytics (unit economics, default rate analysis,..), partnership brokering, access to carbon finance, support on financial pilot design, implementation support & monitoring, etc.

The Hystra team will also be in Tanzania w/c June 9th and in Uganda w/c June 16th and will be available for in-person meetings. Hystra is currently in an opportunity scoping phase which will be concluded in July.
