NUTRITION | Set up funds and coalitions for impact
Supported Danone Communities in refining its nutrition investment strategy
Danone Communities was founded in 2007, to support social businesses which either give access to safe drinking or to healthy nutrition to vulnerable population.
In 2023 the Nutrition investment thesis has been broadened, from tackling only affordability barrier, to assessing systemic barriers to access to healthier nutrition which are on top of affordability, availability and education. We supported the team in refining their new investment strategy and identifying pipeline opportunities
Since 2024, we further helped the team to:
Define investment criteria to clarify Danone Communities’ vision for the coming years
Identify clusters of investment with a sufficient number of ventures having potential for impact at scale and on which Danone (Communities) have distinctive assets, knowledge, or appetite to help address these barriers
Identify 50 ventures they could invest in, in a list of pre-defined countries
Deep-dive on 10 most promising ventures including pre-investment memo on 4
Our work is being used as support for internal conversations with key stakeholders to illustrate the new investment strategy, with specific focus areas and examples of businesses.
We are currently supporting them in the next stage of the project, to identify possible investments.
